I'm holding an event to raise funds for The Children's Hospital at Westmead!
On the 6th of September 2021, I will begin a 10-day walk from Glenmore Park High School to the High Commission of Canada, in Canberra. I will walk 30 kilometres each day, for 10 days.
I am walking in the name of Terry Fox. I hope to use Terry's story to inspire Australian children, and to use this walk to raise money for the Children's Hospital at Westmead.
The Children's Hospital at Westmead is one of Australia's leading specialist medical centres for children. It offers a safe and friendly healing environment for kids from NSW and beyond. The Hospital's expert medical staff care for more than 84,000 critically ill and injured children every year.

Who was Terry Fox?
Terry Fox was a student who became a legend. When
Terry was just 18 he was diagnosed with cancer. In 1977 his right leg
had to be amputated a few inches above the knee. While undergoing cancer
treatment, Terry was moved by the scale of the disease and how young
its victims were. So, in 1980 he set out to run across Canada to
raise money for cancer research. Terry named his run the Marathon
of Hope. He ran a marathon each day (on an artificial limb) and showed
us what is possible if we try. Terry ran 5,373 kilometers in 143
days. But in September 1980, as he approached Thunder Bay Ontario, Terry
stopped. He asked to be taken to the hospital where he learned that his
cancer had returned. Doctors found two tumors in his lungs—one the size of a lemon and the other the size of a golf
ball. Terry returned to his home in British Columbia and died a few
months later, in June 1981.
Terry could not have known the lasting impact that his Marathon of Hope would have around the world. Inspired by Terry's courage and determination, people everywhere decided to finish the run that Terry started. To date, more than $800 million has been raised in Terry's name, to support finding a cure for cancer. Terry Fox is a legend and a great role model for our kids.
